For the first time in its three-year history, NorthBay Adventure Camp is offering a getaway for kids of all ages—families, grandparents, and parents alike. The “weekend on the water” will take place on May 3 and 4.
NorthBay is a 97-acre waterfront camp located in North East, Md., on the northern tip of the Chesapeake Bay. In partnership with the state’s Department of Natural Resources and Department of Education, it is an environmental education center during the school year, hosting more than 10,000 Maryland sixthgraders.
During the summer, it draws 7–16-year-olds for an outdoor adventure camp. What prompted NorthBay to create an all-ages weekend?
“For a few years now, there’s been a significant amount of interest from the parents of our students and campers, local families, Erickson employees, and residents at the communities,” Summer Camp Manager Ben Wilhelm explains. “Where else could grandparents take a step back in time to experience camp with their families?”
NorthBay already has a boatload of activities planned, from rock climbing to canoeing. Movies, bonfires, and marshmallows on the beach are also on the schedule, which has something for everyone.
