Oak Crest will host the eighth annual national Erickson Resident Advisory Council (RAC) meeting on April 22 and 23.

A liaison among Erickson residents, management, and the Board of Directors, the RAC is much like local community associations across the country.

“We really serve as an intermediary,” says Robert Martin, current chair of Oak Crest’s RAC and host of this year’s national conference. “When we receive a written concern or suggestion, we bring it before the RAC and the administration…and work on it until everyone is satisfied.”

The national RAC conference is an opportunity for new Erickson communities to come together with mature Erickson communities like Oak Crest to share advice on topics from parking and dining to financing and growth.

RAC leaders from Michigan to Texas and Virginia to Pennsylvania are planning to attend this year’s event. “I’m an activist, so I like to know what’s going on and why,” says Martin. “I enjoy helping people find solutions to issues they’re facing. This national conference is a great forum for us to come together and share what works and what doesn’t.”

Fountain Hill Café opens will a touch of yesteryear

At the grand opening of the Fountain Hill Café in Charlestown’s Historic District, residents and guests enjoyed ice cream, coffee, and pastries that are available at the new store. People also danced to swing music from the brand-new jukebox, unveiled as a gift to the community for Charlestown’s 25th anniversary celebration.
