THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Even when it’s the right time to make a move, letting go of the so-called treasures in life (the stuff that seems to multiply over the years) turns into what feels like a monumental task.
But if people are overwhelmed with all the details of making a move to a new home, they can take heart— help is just around the corner.
Just the right person
Highland Springs resident Jim Schollenberger knows what it means to go through that process and to have just the right person in place for support: his daughter, Jan Schollenberger, Highland Springs’ new personal moving consultant.
“It made a huge differenceto have Jan working with me to make the transition,” says Mr. Schollenberger. “Fortunately, she was already working at Highland Springs and had lots of practice in knowing what to do and how to do it. If she can’t personally help you, she knows who can. Don’t know what I would have done without her.”
For many other Highland Springs residents, Ms. Schollenberger uses that same expertise to assist in planning, organizing, and providing resources to guide people through each challenge they face when making the move to their new home.
A smooth transition
Ms. Schollenberger’s training and expertise in helping seniors adopt a simplified lifestyle began even before the Highland Springs community was a reality, when it was only an office trailer on the grounds, with a small staff and a dream for the future. She observed firsthand the beautiful campus take shape with all the amenities and met residents as they transitioned to their new surroundings. At that time, she helped them make the right choices in decorating their new homes as the custom interiors coordinator.
